Shin Yamato Damacy Ep. 4

There must be something in the air… Burning rubber?! Luka and DaRC are out at 日光 (Nikko) Circuit interviewing people out for a drift tournament. It’s pretty much 10 minutes of awesome cars. You can watch the second video if you just want to see cars being awesome without the interviews, but I really liked the part where they ask people about what kind of upgrades they’ve done.

Initial D Arcade Stage 5

【ニコニコ動画】頭文字D ARCADE STAGE 5 オープニングムービー
The opening movie for 頭文字D ARCADE STAGE 5 is up on NicoDou. I love Initial D, but another arcade game doesn’t get me super excited… But the opening movie has a sweet manga effect (called the しげのエフェクト in the tags) that you have to watch this video for. I bet it is somewhat inspired by the Street Fighter IV effect, but I really hope that it is actually in the game.

Drifting Ojisan Truck

This was always my dream when I would go race around the 峠 (touge) of 榛名山 (Haruna-san)… that someday, an ojisan in a 軽トラック (kei torakku) would come drifting around the corner.

Otaku My Ride

The first ever 痛Gフェスタ (Ita G Festa) occured over the weekend on the 9th in お台場 (Odaiba). It was a festival where people showed off all sorts of 痛車 (itasha), being cars with マンガ・アニメ・ゲーム (manga-anime-game) themed stickers or paint.
It was put on by the 痛G magazine and well documented in the videos above.
As an avid ニコ動 fan, I recognized way more than I care to admit. I am also blown away by this new 痛車 thing. I mean, we’ve all seen the silly ricers who take themselves seriously with their goofy ass mods. But, there is no semblance of seriousness left. It is frankly… refreshing.
Some of the ニコ動 comments for this video are worried that once the foreign press gets a hold of it, they will be all like “OMG, Japan is like, teh weird.” But I say, let your freak flag fly!

Nihon Car and Bike

Another new comer to the blogging arena (like us!) is Nihon Car and Bike. Basically, it is everything I’ve ever wanted in a blog. News about bikes and cars form Japan.
The only reason I post about it is their subtitle on their logo. It reads “Nihon Car and Bike: The latest Car and Bike news from Mario Kart‘s home country” Pure Genius.
So, in 2008, when the new Skyline GT-R (R35 BABY!) and NSX (or do I mean HSC) come out, I guess they’ll be all over it.
