K-ON! Season 2!

K-ON! season 2 has been announced!!! My friend sent me an email saying “Check the K-ON! official site!!!” And there it is. Season 2 is confirmed!
This is fantastic. K-ON! was pretty much the highlight of 2009. Although second seasons are fairly rare for any Japanese story based television show in general, Kyoto Animation has done second seasons before, so it’s not all that unexpected. But not exactly expected either!

Dreams Crushed, Dreams Realized
Written by Jeshii on 2009.11.28 – 04:19 -So, I heard a rumor that the K-ON! songs were so popular that they would probably be included in this year’s 紅白 (kouhaku), the end of the year Japanese music show that has been a tradition for millions. It broadcasts outside of Japan, so check your local listings (generally on the local Japanese channel).
I was all hyped up to see K-ON! songs covered or just done by the voice actresses. But it was not to be. The line up for 紅白 was announced and I don’t see anything that indicates any K-ON! happening.
Crushed!
Then I found out that SCANDAL, who you may recognize from Japan Nite 2008 fame, the high school girl rock band in 制服, did a cover of Don’t Say Lazy:
And the voice actresses are doing a live event on December 30th in Yokohama. See the public site for more details. Here is the TV spot:
Dreams come true! While I can’t go to the Yokohama event, I will be happy to know there will probably be videos.
Why do I love K-ON! so damn much?!?!
In other news, Perfume is going to be on 紅白 again this year. I’m guessing One Room Disco will be their song, since it is the only song I ever heard from them this whole year. Last year’s performance was kind of weak, so I’m not holding my breath on this one.

The Best Tsuri Ever

There is a class of video called 釣り (tsuri) where you are brought to the video expecting one thing and getting another. Normally, it is some sort of video promising erotic wonders, and then invariably ending in 兄貴 porn or Ronald McDonald insanity.
However, this is quite possibly the best 釣り動画 ever. It poses as K-ON! AV (AV generally meaning Adult Video) but delivers awesomeness in a totally safe for work sort of way.

What if the girls from K-ON! were Maximum the Hormone fans?

Hatarake!BOYS
Written by Jeshii on 2009.07.30 – 22:57 -Sorry for all the けいおん！ (K-ON!) posts recently, but too much good stuff keeps coming out of it! This parody song of the opening Kagayake!GIRLS is an anti-NEET (Not in Education, Employment, or Training) song. It’s really harsh, saying “Work or die, please choose one or the other.” But if you just take it with a grain of salt, it is an awesome answer to the ニート万歳 (NEET banzai) feeling of a lot of NicoDou videos. Plus, the fact that it is sung by girls as if it was the girls from けいおん！, maybe this will inspire some NEETs to actually go out and get jobs…? One can only hope.

Nanairo no Nico Nico Douga

It’s here. After a slew of imitators, the true successor to the ニコニコ流星群 is here. Yes, my friends, right now, NicoDou is celebrating the release of the next megamix. 七色のニコニコ動画 (Nanairo no NicoNicoDouga) is here.
This is my first real megamix since getting into NicoDou hardcore. I love the 流星群, since that gave me the jump start I needed to get into in the first place, but this one… It is like a summary of my last year of NicoLife. I’ve featured a number of these songs on the blog over the last year, although not all of them! Can you believe that this blog will be one whole year old in just over 2 months?! WTF.
I have a list of the songs after the jump, minus the HEROES section (the section of chaos from 9:40 to 11:10) since really you could just go to the 流星群 for those songs. If you are a experienced ニコ厨 (NicoChuu), listen to it before you check the list below. See how many you recognize! If you are new to NicoDou, this is a great way to catch up! XD
(BTW, as for the English name, I would call it Rainbow Colored NicoNicoDouga if I were in charge, but a few places seem to already be translating it as “7 Colors of Nico Nico Douga.” I hate translation. 日本語バンザイ！ Oh, and as always, if you don’t have a NicoDou account, why not?!)

K-ON and ON
Written by Jeshii on 2009.05.29 – 23:35 -I’m currently watching けいおん！(Keion!), which is the new アニメ (anime) from 京都アニメーション (Kyoto Animeishon). It’s about the girls of the 桜高軽音部 (Sakura-kou Keion-bu) who essentially start a band. The music is pretty awesome, especially the ending song, Don’t say “lazy.” Needless to say, since it is 京アニ, it is automatically all over the NicoDous:
