Shin Yamato Damacy Ep. 3!
Written by Jeshii on 2009.01.31 – 02:10 -
It’s here! The new episode of Shin Yamato Damacy has arrived! In this episode, Luka is wandering the streets of Takasaki (Think Ep. 1 or Ep. 3 of YD) asking some awesomely random questions. The results are pretty amazing.
RANDOM!

How is it like to edit a movie like this?
It’s a great task, needing long hours to work for…I guess. Also, you put subtitles in English…wow! How long hours do you have to spend to complete this whole thing?
I’m asking you this, because I do appreciate your work, and at the same time, I may wanna challenge that, too. We need a special soft to convert from video camera to Youtube movie style, right?
Anyway…I wonder if they’d tell their opinions clearly if the question was posted beforehand. Many people just lead their life without certain goals or strong will, and I was also one of them until a few years ago.

Hey Kirin,
Thanks for enjoying SYD, we really appreciate your comment, it pushes us to make more.
The time to make an episode varies, if we are like super serious, just a couple of days, if we get lazy, like a couple of weeks.
(things like our day jobs, household chores, world of warcraft (j/k) take away from that too)
For this episode we originally were going to do a different theme, but it didn’t fall through, then we tried something else, that didn’t work. So then finally we’re like let’s just ask people random stuff.
And that’s how it went. Then we got back and more than 1/2 of all the audio tape got ruined due to a bad mic cable. So DaRC cleverly edited around those parts, i’m surprised how much useable footage we had got.
Finding people to talk to is probably the most hardest part, 85-87% of the time we will get rejected by people, because they don’t want to be on camera, or are like “wtf is this?!”.
So, with the heavens against us, it can be frustrating sometimes.
We use several different software depending on what is needed.
Things like rotoscoping, green screen, photoshop, other crazy effects, etc.. will take more time. But in the end, better to spend more time on something and make it good, rather than spend less time and make it so-so. That’s just what I think.
Anyways, if you have any questions I can answer in detail please send us a message via the youtube page.
Thanks! (^_^)

That was delightful! Also, I’m surprised by how much of the Japanese I understood!
